The mum of a girl who was kidnapped, raped and murdered just days before her ninth birthday says she hopes her daughter's killers "end up in hell".
Married couple Igor and Kristina Dvornikov have been charged in the killing of Vika Teplyakova, whose body was found dumped in a forest after they offered her a ride.
In her first interview, Vika's grief-stricken mum Ulyana said her only hope is the suspects suffer the "most terrible and painful" fate, are never released from custody and wind up in the depths of hell after they take their final breaths.
Vika ran away from home following a row and was walking alone next to a road when she was picked up by the Dvornikovs, who spotted her as they drove by, according to police.
Vika, who was missing for three days before her body was found, would have celebrated her ninth birthday on Sunday.
Instead of celebrating her birthday, her devastated family will bury her on Monday.
Mum Ulyana said she is struggling to cope with her grief and she is taking sedatives because she is so overwhelmed by the pain of losing her daughter in such a brutal way.
The mum, from Novoaleksandrovsk, Russia, told Life: "Of course, I would like the most severe punishment so that these people are never released.
"All I can wish for is the most terrible and painful punishment for these people. I do not hide it.
"I hope the punishment is as strict as possible and I hope that soon these people will end up in hell."
Ulyana said her daughter was well-behaved and friendly, and loved to play football, sing and record videos.
Vika was last seen alive on Monday afternoon when chilling CCTV showed the eight-year-old walking alone next to a busy road shortly before she was kidnapped and murdered.
Her family didn't report her missing until 11pm, about 12 hours after she left home, Sakhalin.info reported.
After initially denying involvement, mum-of-two Kristina Dvornikov allegedly confessed to police after detectives identified the couple as suspects via traffic cameras and witness statements.
Police allege the Dvornikovs spotted the girl walking alongside the road and stopped to offer her a ride.
Vika was trying to travel 20 miles to reach her friends in Dolinsk, the town where her family used to live.
Kristina, 31, claims her husband Igor, 45, drove to an isolated area and ordered her out of the car, and she complied because she was scared, said police.
She allegedly told investigators Igor raped Vika in the car and strangled her with a plastic bag, Russian media reported.
He allegedly carried Vika's body out of the car and dumped her on the shore of the lake.
After the couple was arrested, Kristina led police to Vika's body in the early hours of Friday, it is claimed.
Igor is a father whose daughter from a previous relationship is about the same age as Vika, a neighbour told Life.
The neighbour said: "A girl of about ten, maybe a little more. I am shocked. This is scary."
Police on the island of Sakhalin, in the Pacific Ocean, have charged Igor Dvornikov with kidnapping, rape, violent acts of a sexual nature, and murder. Kristina is charged with kidnapping.
The husband and wife remain in custody.
Officers have seized and searched the couple's car, which allegedly showed "signs of a crime".
A spokesperson for local investigators said on Friday: "This morning, as a result of investigative actions and operational search measures, a girl's body with signs of violent death was found in a forest.
"The death of the child occurred on the day of her disappearance, July 6.
"Currently, the investigation has identified the persons involved in the commission of this crime.
"The criminal investigation is ongoing."
The spokesperson said on Saturday: "The investigation established the persons involved in the commission of this crime, they turned out to be a married couple with no fixed abode, a 31-year-old woman and a previously convicted 45-year-old man.
"The detainees are currently charged.
"A court has ordered them to remain in custody."
Footage posted on Life's website shows the couple in handcuffs as they are removed from a police van and led to holding cells at a courthouse.
Igor grimaces in pain and is heard saying "oh" as a police officer cuffs himself to the suspect and marches him into the building.
Meanwhile, a local 28-year-old man is facing charges after he falsely accused a 23-year-old man of abducting and killing Vika, said police.
The 28-year-old circulated a photo of the 23-year-old on social media and claimed the younger man was the killer - despite knowing it was not true - because he was trying to "impress a girl he knew", ASTV reported.
The 23-year-old had nothing to do with the crime, and has said he now fears for his life and has fled his home.
