Move over Yankee, Ikea is bringing out a new candle line & prices start at just £5

NOTHING makes your home smell as inviting as a scented candle, and while Yankee are one of the popular brands they could soon be knocked off the top spot as Ikea is launching its own fragrances.

The Swedish furniture giant will be releasing 13 scents next month as part of a new candle collection, in partnership with Byredo, called Osynlig.

The limited edition scents include Swedish Birch, Peach Blossom and Bamboo, Pomegranate and Amber, and Juniper with Tobacco and Honey.

The fragrances have been divided into three categories - fresh, flora and woody and prices start from just £5 - a fraction of Yankee Candle.

What’s more, the candles come in stylish ceramic jars, which are designed to be reused so you can pop them in your kitchen or bathroom cupboard for storage.

Ben Gorham, founder of Byredo, said: “The way your home smells is very emotional and plays a huge part in how you feel being there.

“It isn’t just about things being functional and practical, it’s the place where you come together with family and friends and make memories.

“We’ve developed an array of smells highlighting the idea that everyone has a different relationship to scents, and nothing is right or wrong.”

The candles will be available to buy in Ikea stores from November.

Meanwhile Yankee Candle has released its Christmas collection including scents such as Singing Carols and Holiday Morning.

Plus Studio has released matching family Christmas pyjamas from £6 – and there’s even one for the dog.
