Mohamed Elneny’s Arsenal future in doubt as agent goes to Turkey with transfer offers from Galatasaray and Trabzonspor

MOHAMED ELNENY’S Arsenal future is in doubt after his agent reportedly travelled to Turkey to deal with offers from Galatasaray and Trabzonspor.

ExtraSport claim the Egyptian midfielder, 28, could yet leave Arsenal before next month’s transfer deadline.

That’s despite starting two of this season’s first three matches under Mikel Arteta.

Elneny lined up alongside Granit Xhaka for the Community Shield win against Liverpool before retaining his spot in the Premier League victory over Fulham.

But he was dropped for Real Madrid loanee Dani Ceballos for the fortunate 2-1 win against West Ham on Saturday.

And it’s now claimed that Elneny has offers to return to Turkey after starring on loan at Besiktas.

Trabzonspor are said to be keen, while Galatasaray are long-term suitors.

Elneny has made 91 appearances for Arsenal following a move from Swiss side Basel in 2016.

But his time in north London could soon be coming to an end after his agent jetted off to sort out the two transfer offers.

Indeed, boss Arteta is known to be chasing both Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey and Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.

Selling Elneny would provide a timely cash injection while also freeing up space in the squad for new faces.

However, Arteta revealed in the wake of the West Ham win that Elneny should have started the game.

But the Spaniard added that he was still in the market for new signings and there could also be some surprise exits.

Arteta said: “Mo deserved to play again today but I wanted to rotate.

“It was a game that we had to attack their smaller spaces and the way they defend, to create situations with Dani in there.

“We are going to try and strengthen the team until the market is done.

“Depending on what happens with some of the other players in the squad, we are open to discussions.

“The marke can surprise us and can come for any of our players and then we have to react. Let’s see what happens.”
