Michaela Strachan will miss reuniting with co-host Chris Packham on Autumnwatch next week – as she goes to meet “cute baby seals”.
The BBC presenter, 54, has returned from her home in South Africa to front the extended two-week series which begins next Tuesday, after missing this year’s Springwatch as she was unable to fly in during lockdown.
She said: “It was extremely frustrating because it’s not just a job for us – we absolutely live and breathe it.”
Bosses found the socially-distanced version of the show worked so well during lockdown that they will keep the two pals apart.
Michaela will be at Tentsmuir Forest in Fife while Chris, 59, stays at home in Hampshire.
She said: “I’m going to miss the banter, but I’m doing cute baby seals.
"Oh boy, am I going to go on and on about how cute they are and there’s going to be nobody stopping me going on about their gorgeous big eyes. No Chris raising his eyebrows.”
Chris said: “I’ve managed to banish her to a part of remote Scotland where she’s going to be poring over a few baby mammals.
"I’ll have an absolute nirvana down here where we focus on the most important things in life –birds.”
He adds: “It’s more important than ever for people to have confidence in the fact connecting with nature can be an enormous benefit to them.”
