Meghan Markle and Harry spark MELTDOWN as they use royal titles in veterans charity letter

Meghan Markle and Harry: Tom Bradby discusses royal couple

The organisation, called The Mission Continues, aims to provide community support through a veteran-led volunteer movement. Over the weekend, it posted a photo of its team members posing with dozens of lunch boxes which it said had been provided to them by Harry and Meghan.

The Mission Continues said it was “honoured” by the move, adding: “They fuelled the volunteers of our LA Service Platoon with lunch yesterday, so they can continue their hard work at the Compton VFW and help those living in the Compton community!”

The lunch boxes also appeared to come with a letter sent by the Duke and Duchess.

The charity took a photo of the letter, which had been typed out and printed, on social media. It is dated to January 16.

It reads: “In honour of this day of service, and in recognition of Dr Martin Luther King Jr and all that he stood for, we want to send our thanks and gratitude to the team at The Mission Continues.

“We’re so proud of all the work you’re doing to support your community and hope you enjoy this small token of our appreciation.

“Thank you for your service – today and every day. We look forward to joining you soon! Stay safe, and keep up the great work.”

The letter is signed off by “Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” though it does not bear any insignia or written signature from the couple.

Twitter users were divided on the move. One user hit out at the couple’s continued use of the ‘Sussex’ titles, stating: “They are doing their best to work off those royal titles, I see.”

Others praised the charity and the gesture. One wrote: “Your work with veterans is so important.

“So happy you have the support of Harry and Meghan. I know how close this is to Harry’s heart.”

The meals appeared to have been delivered in a van bearing the logo of LA’s Homegirl Café – a food business linked to a charity the Duke and Duchess have worked with in the past.

Last year, they donned hair nets and face masks as they prepared food with social justice group Homeboy Industries, which helps provide means to food-insecure groups across LA.

Meanwhile, the letter’s wording suggests the Duke and Duchess will make a return to charitable volunteering at some point in the future.

Harry and Meghan are currently residing in the Californian region of Santa Barbara, having relocated there from Los Angeles last year.
