A man has pleaded guilty to the murder of Vera Hudson who was found dead in her west Hull home.
Mark Jewitt was arrested at an address in Hessle just 45 minutes after Ms Hudson’s body was discovered in Constable Street at 7.30am on Thursday, September 19 last year
The 25–year-old, of Constable Street, west Hull, pleaded guilty to the murder of the 57-year-old at his home via video link at Grimsby Crown Court on Thursday.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Phil Gadd said: “I would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved with this case.
“The public answered our appeal last year and provided information that supported our investigation. This thorough investigation has brought about the plea this morning.”
Tributes poured in for Ms Hudson after her death who was a friendly, familiar face in the Hessle Road area.
She has left behind five children, Rebecca, Sarah, Daniel, Kelly and Dale.
Eldest daughter Rebecca, 37, told Hull Live last year the news of their mother's had devastated the family.
She spoke about good times with her mother, who she said was the "friendliest person who would help anyone".
She said: "I live in Bridlington and she used to come and see me and we'd sit in the kitchen and have a bacon sandwich and a coffee together. When I would put the music on we would sit in the kitchen together and sing.
"She was always singing. She was quite a quiet lady really but she was so friendly and so helpful and would do anything for anyone if they asked.”
Vera, who's partner of ten years, Colin, died just eight months before, lived alone and had moved to Hull from Bridlington around twelve years ago.

"She loved cleaning and gardening. She's just planted some flowers in a plant pot and was talking about getting a fence around her garden."
A regular face while the mums did the school run along Hessle Road, neighbours said Vera would stand at her front door every morning with a coffee watching the world go by and chat to everyone passing."
Jewitt will be sentenced at Hull Crown Court on Thursday, March 12.
