Manchester United couldn't move top of the Premier League yesterday as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Wolves.

Anthony Martial had put United ahead with a lovely finish in the first half, but Wolves' Ruben Neves equalised after surviving a VAR review. United could have taken all three points, but Paul Pogba missed a penalty and Wolves saw the game out.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said after the game: "First half was a mature performance. Second half was a bit sloppy. We are improving. We are a young team who will learn, we learned on the pitch today. We get a penalty that normally would get us another two points, sometimes the keeper makes a good save."

Meanwhile Alexis Sanchez continues to be linked with a move to Inter Milan before the Italian transfer deadline of September 2.

We'll bring you all the latest United updates throughout the day.

Why United fans feel Neves goal should be disallowed

It’s rare that United and Man City fans agree, but they’re on the same page as both teams have been the victim of similar offside calls looked at by VAR.

But while City were denied a goal for offside this season, United were not let off the hook for Wolves’ equaliser last night.

Solskjaer gives update on Alexis Sanchez future

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has refused to rule out Alexis Sanchez leaving Manchester United before the European transfer window closes on September 2.

Inter Milan have enquired about Sanchez’s before the Serie A window closes in two weeks’ time and United are believed to be open to letting the Chilean leave since Solskjaer considers him surplus.

Inter have expressed interest in Sanchez, 30, but United sources have told the MEN reports Inter officials flew to London for talks are inaccurate. There have been suggestions from sources outside United that Sanchez’s agent Fernando Felicevich is sensationalising interest in his client in a bid to force through a move within the next fortnight.

“There’s still a couple of weeks left of the transfer window,” Solskjaer said after United drew at Wolves. “And there is a chance some clubs have shown interest in Alexis, so we’ll see what happens.”
