Manchester United are contemplating a move for AS Monaco midfield ace Aurelien Tchouameni.
That is according to a report by 90Min who claim that United are 'paying increasingly close attention' to the France international.
The 21-year-old, who started France's 2-1 victory over Spain in the final of the UEFA Nations League last weekend, is reportedly attracting no shortage of attention from a series of big-name clubs, including both United and Chelsea.
The youngster, who is under contract at Monaco until the summer of 2024, is considered as one of the best and brightest young midfielders in world football, with his performances in recent months, especially on the international stage, certainly having lived up to the billing.
Current United midfielder Paul Pogba, who has accepted that United deserved to be beaten by Leicester City following this afternoon's 4-2 defeat at the King Power Stadium, has waxed lyrical about Tchouameni in the past, raising United's supporters' hopes that the club, one day, will make a move for the youngster.
United are going to be on the hunt for a new defensive-midfielder next year after failing to bring one in during the summer transfer window.
England international Declan Rice is understood to be at the very top of their wish list, but it is claimed that Tchouameni has now entered their thinking. It is also claimed that Monaco would want somewhere in the region of £50million for the Frenchman.
Meanwhile, fellow Frenchman Jules Kounde has instructed his agent to hold talks with United about the possibility of him making a move to Old Trafford, a report by El Naciona claims.
The Sevilla centre-back, who was very close to joining Chelsea during the summer transfer window, was linked with a move to United before the Reds snapped up Raphael Varane.
Now, Kounde, according to the report, has instructed his agent that he is to knock back interest from Real Madrid and, instead, hold discussions with United.
The highly-rated defender did seem set to join Chelsea in the summer, but Sevilla changed the goalposts in regards to his valuation at the very last minute, forcing the deal to collapse.
Kounde is under contract Sevilla until 2024.
