A Manchester hotel is helping everyone get into the festive spirit with an ongoing Christmas celebration lasting more than a month including a carol concert and pet fancy dress competition this November.

The Refuge at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel has partnered with local businesses for 'Christmas at the Clocktower' to showcase the best the city has to offer, and to support independent vendors.

On Friday November 12 celebrations will begin with a ‘launch night’ carol concert with a performance by Hallé Ancoats Community Choir, before guests can witness a special appearance from a ‘local hero’ who will mark the season’s first Town Crier visit.

It’s not just humans who can get into the spirit of the season, as on November 28 four-legged friends are invited to attend the The Refuge Rein-dog Competition.

In a statement to their website, the restaurant said: “It’s our fancy dress competition for dogs just in time for Christmas, giving you the chance to win some special prizes.

“The event will take place in our heated, undercover courtyard, and furry friends will be invited to dress up in their fanciest outfits and have a special ‘paw-trait’ – perfect timing for those family Christmas pressies!”

Other events will include a festive fair which is meant to be reminiscent of an Edwardian Christmas, a nod to the hotel’s origins.

It will take place on the heated terrace on December 5 and December 12, guests will be able to browse a variety of stalls by local traders.

Currently confirmed to attend are Top of the Town Vintage, HollieGraphik, Deadstock General Store, Northern On The Run and Mariel Osborn – with Manchester Union Lager providing the craft beers for the occasion.

Every Thursday in December, in collaboration with the hotel’s in-house florist Giraffe Flowers, wreath-making workshops will be taking place at 6.30pm.

At £70 per person, materials and guidance are provided to make a Christmas wreath that can then be taken home, along with a festive cocktail and a mince pie.

There’s also an extensive line-up of DJs across the festive season to feature at the venue, including Refuge residents, DJ Santa on December 20 and 22, with many more to be announced.

The restaurant’s festive menu is available throughout the winter months too, and includes meals described as ‘sleeves up, dig in’ dishes.

Sharing platters include the classic Christmas dinner, a herb and butter-roasted turkey breast with cranberry and apricot stuffing, goose fat roast potatoes, cranberry-glazed pigs in blankets and lots of festive veg.

Vegan options are also available, and the menu is priced at £32.50 per person, with pre-booking highly recommended.
