Manchester United fans have been cooing over Scott McTominay after he continued his impressive run of form against Liverpool.

The Scottish playmaker has become an integral cog of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's title-challenging team alongside Fred in the heart of midfield.

Against Liverpool, the United boss' preferred midfield partnership worked in tandem once more to stem the tide of pressure, particularly in the second half.

Jurgen Klopp's side are renowned for their high-pressing style too and McTominay has shown he is increasingly becoming press-resistant by taking the ball in tight areas and retaining possession.

One moment in the first half saw the 24-year-old take the ball from the defence as United played out, before turning past Roberto Firmino and switching play effortlessly. It had United fans talking online as they reacted to the impressive passage of play across social media.

Loki234: McT's close control is very underrated.. I've seen him get past players with his quick feet several times this season

maradonasummer: Indeed. He was doing this plenty of times vs Leeds. There's a reason Ole starts him vs high pressing teams.

Icardi_B: He’s actually very press resistant. Also has that Carrick esque ability to receive the ball under pressure and use his stature and movement to shield the ball very effectively.

DevilishRogue: Seriously, it's like Ole has somehow improved every player's composure when under pressure. This was a phenomenally good game, like watching a Fergie team with our fantastic counter-attacking passing, pace and positioning.

Dr_Dimensional: Seriously doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Aluminarty666: He's going to be a brilliant player if he keeps up the good form, kinda like a mash between Keane and Scholes.
