Manchester United have joined Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Alexander Sorloth, according to reports.
It's understood that United are working on up to three more deals in the two weeks that remain of the transfer window, having only brought in Donny van de Beek so far.
While M.E.N. Sport understands that the club have stepped up plans to strengthen their defence following Saturday's 3-1 humiliation at the hands of Crystal Palace, attacking signings remain the priority this summer.
Jadon Sancho is the top target but reports have emerged which suggest United could be interested in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's fellow countryman Sorloth.
The 24-year-old joined Palace in 2018 but struggled in England, managing to score just once in 20 appearances before leaving the club on loan. He joined Turkish side Trabzonspor last summer and became a revelation, bagging 33 goals, which had led to speculation that he could return to the Premier League.
According to Turkish publication Asist Analiz, United are keen on signing Soroth but they face competition from Spurs, with Jose Mourinho making no secret of his desire to sign a striker.
It's reported that the Norwegian was set to sign for RB Leipzig but his medical on Monday was cancelled at the last minute, leaving the door open for other clubs to sign him.
However, the report adds, any deal will be complicated as Sorloth's loan spell at Trabzonspor does not expire until the end of the current season.
M.E.N. Sport does not understand Sorloth to be a target and a new striker isn't a priority this summer.

Elsewhere, United were unhappy with the Portuguese media’s coverage of the Bruno Fernandes pursuit, and they are getting carried away again now with Alex Telles.
This time A Bola claim there has been ‘concrete progress’ in recent hours over a deal for Telles, with his agent Pini Zahavi trying to get United to pay €20million.
The MEN understands United are monitoring Alex Telles but a deal is not close to being finalised as has been reported elsewhere.
