A man has died following a police pursuit across East Yorkshire.
Officers had been pursuing the vehicle driven by the man when it crashed into a lorry, Humberside Police have said.
A road in Holme-on-Spalding-Moor was closed for 10 hours following a serious collision in the early hours of Friday morning, with residents saying they heard “the loudest bang, like an explosion”.
The accident happened on the A614 at the Port Royal and Back Lane crossroads with police advising motorists to “avoid the area if possible”.
Officers were seen making door-to-door enquiries in the area until the road was cleared at around 2.30pm.
Humberside Police have now confirmed that at approximately 4am a man failed to stop for officers and fled the scene.

The driver later collided with a lorry sustaining fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident has now been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
A statement from Humberside Police read: “Today (April 16), at approximately 4am, the driver of a vehicle on the A614 Home-on-Spalding-Moor, Goole, failed to stop when asked to do so by officers and fled the scene later colliding with a lorry.
“The man driving sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident has now been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) as is the standard procedure and we continue to assist them with their enquiries.”
