The M1 was closed after a major two lorry and car crash which left four people injured.
Traffic delays are still being felt after police, firefighters and paramedics completed closed the motorway between junctions 18 and 19.
Leicestershire Police urged people to avoid the area after the two lorries and car smashed into each other just before 6am.
Cops closed the road as the scene was corroded of around lane one between the Catthorphe Interchange and Rugby.
Highways England confirmed the M1 closed southbound due to collision which impact two out of the four lanes – urging people to allow "extra time".
A fire service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 5.44am by East Midlands Ambulance Service to a report of road traffic collision involving two HGVs and a car.
“There were four people injured - walking wounded - who were taken to hospital in Coventry by ambulance.
“It is believed the injuries were not serious.”
Highways England said: “We were called at 5.37am to a report of a collision.
“The police, fire and ambulance service were all in attendance.
“There is lane one of four lanes closed. Traffic is struggling.”
