Love Island could be set to face another OfCom investigation as viewers have kicked off about Shaughna Phillips ' inevitable heartbreak as her love interest Callum Jones prepares to recouple with new Casa Amor bombshell Molly Smith.
Worried viewers are fearful Shaughna will be left shattered after she finds out the 23-year-old scaffolder has ditched her in favour of the new blonde beauty.
According to The Sun , fans of the show have complained to broadcasting watchdog OfCom after being unimpressed by Callum’s decision and upset by Shaughna’s heartache.
Reports claimed some viewers demanded ITV2 bosses to send a clip of Callum kissing the new girl in advance of his return to the main villa so the 25-year-old original islander could see it coming and save face.
Despite a TV insider telling MailOnline that bosses wanted to show the democratic services officer 'everything' Callum has been saying, a representative for Love Island reportedly later squashed the claims and said they do not plan to send video footage into the villa.
However even without the revealing footage, Callum and Shaughna's relationship is set to take a dramatic u-turn in the next few days as he is expected to return to the villa with new girl Molly by his side.
Shaughna has been speculating about Callum's behaviour in Casa Amor after the boys where whisked away from the Main Villa earlier in the week.
During Tuesday's episode, Callum hinted he'd already caught feelings for Molly as he admitted he can't stop looking at his new love interest.
Fans flocked to social media to announce they would complain to the show following Shaughna's expected heartbroken reaction to Callum's antics.
One wrote: "How am I hearing ofcom getting involved because viewers are furious that Shaughna is upset about casa amor?!?"
Another added: "If Shaughna goes home I’m complaining to Ofcom."
A third pledged their sympathy for the fiery London star, writing: "My heart is breaking for Shaughna I really hope she stays strong through this and realises he ain't worth s**t."
Meanwhile another viewer admitted they were concerned for the Islander as they shared: "I'm actually worries for Shaughna now she seems the deep sensitive type."
This wouldn't be the first time the hit ITV2 dating show has faced criticism and severe backlash following the heartbreak of contestants.
In 2018, Ofcom received 2,500 complaints after Dani Dyer was reduced to tears when she received a misleading video of partner Jack Fincham being reunited with his ex-girlfriend in Casa Amor.
The Sun has now claimed the watchdog is set to receive further complaints as Shaughna 'explodes with anger' in tomorrow night's dramatic recoupling episode.
Crafty Callum spent his first night away from Shaughna in bed with newbie Molly.
Now, viewers anticipate Shaughna will explode in the most excruciating Love Island recoupling ever. Tonigh, bad boy Callum admitted she will "go f**king mad" as he prepared for everyone to hate him.
In the main villa, worried Shaughna said: "I just know what's coming."
Callum added: "Everyone is going to hate me when I come back."
At the end of the episode, Shaughna told the girls that she was willing to move to Manchester for Callum.
Ahead of his return, she said: "We need to have a discussion. We need to make this a bit offish. If it was official I wouldn't stress so much."
But the action then turned straight to Casa Amor where Callum told Molly that he misses her constantly. Molly was stunned by how much he was opening up and the pair then shared a romantic kiss.
Up until Casa Amor, Callum and Shaughna remained strong since the start of their Love Island journeys despite facing a few bumps along the way when he 'slightly' fancied Rebecca and was whisked away on a date by Eve.
*Love Island continues tomorrow at 9pm on TV2
