Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool forward Mo Salah is 'above' Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi on the list of the world's best footballers, after all three were named on the Ballon d'Or shortlist.
A list of 30 male players have been nominated, with twenty players also up for the women's award, ahead of a coronation on November 29 in Paris.
The favourite to win the prestigious award, handed by French publication France Football to the footballer deemed to have performed best over the course over the previous 12 months, is currently United superstar Ronaldo's great rival and six-time winner Lionel Messi.
But Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes his player, Mo Salah, is ahead of both superstars and is 'top of the list' of the best players in the world.
Salah currently has 10 goals in 10 games in all competitons for Liverpool this season, along with four assists.
The Egyptian netted one and set up another in his side's 5-0 demolition of Watford on Saturday to extend his recent run of form.
And his manager appears to have backed him to win the Ballon d'Or following his recent strong performances.
"He's for sure one of the best in the world now, but it's not about me and who I say is the best," Klopp told BT Sport after the game.
"For me he is the best. I see him every day and that maybe makes it easier for me, but there's [Robert] Lewandowski out there, [Cristiano] Ronaldo still scoring like crazy and [Lionel] Messi still scoring on a world-class level. But, at this moment, he is for sure on top of that list."
United legend Sir Alex Ferguson has said Cristiano Ronaldo 'deserves' to win the Ballon d'Or this year.
The Portuguese superstar has also been backed for the award by his agent Jorge Mendes.
