One Liverpool restaurant has been named in a list of best vegan burgers in Europe.

Big 7 Travel has revealed its top 50 best vegan burgers in Europe, ranking them based on nine different criteria.

Restaurants across Europe were ranked based on editorial opinions and experiences, previous critic reviews, online customer reviews, location and accessibility, online presence, consistency, atmosphere and service, value for money and presentation.

Liverpool’s own Down the Hatch on Duke Street came in at number 19, among restaurants from the likes of Poland, Greece, Italy and Denmark.

What did Big 7 have to say?

Hidden beneath Duke Street, Down the Hatch is an alternative restaurant that took Liverpool’s vegan community by storm when it opened in 2017 - and Big 7 agrees.

Big 7 wrote: “With a menu that’s 80% vegan, allowing for a few halloumi fries, you won’t find any meat at this trendy basement restaurant, appropriately deemed ‘Seitan’s Basement’.
