Lewis Capaldi has slammed reports that his massive number 1 Someone You Loved is about ex Paige Turley, who is currently on Love Island.
The track, which spent seven weeks at the top last year, was the UK's best-selling single of 2019 and has now been streamed over a BILLION times, won Lewis one of the big awards of the night at Tuesday's Brits, taking home the trophy for Song of the Year, seeing off competition from the likes of Stormzy, Dave, Calvin Harris and Mabel.
After his acceptance speech was muted earlier on the night as he collected the Best New Artist award, Lewis returned to the winners podium for a second time and finally revealed who Someone You Loved is about.
Clutching a bottle of Buckfast, Lewis said: "Thanks very much… many people think this song is about my ex-girlfriend who you can currently see on a certain reality show.
"But it’s about my grandmother who sadly passed away."
The 23-year-old, who was also up for Best Male and Best Album at the Brits, then quipped: "I hope that ITV don’t contact her to be on a reality TV show."
In her Q&A as she headed into the Love Island villa, Paige said: "We went out when we were younger, I was about 17 or 18. We were together for about a year. It ended really amicably and we’re still pals."
And then in her VT on the day she went into the show, she said "'Lewis, I'm so sorry I must have been a b***h to you.'
