Leigh Wood was crowned featherweight world champion on Saturday night after stopping Xu Can in a stunning upset.

The 32-year-old was drafted in at six weeks' notice to take on his Chinese rival who had been out of action for 21 months.

And Can's lay-off didn't help as Wood made a fast start and refused to relent, dropping and stopping the visitor in the final session.

Wood's first world title tilt headlined Eddie Hearn's first Fight Camp of the summer - and his first UK show on new UK broadcaster DAZN.

Conor Benn's clash with Adrian Granados had been set to take centre stage until the son of a legend tested positive for Covid-19.

And Wood took full advantage of his promotion, dropping the champion a minute from the end before forcing the referee to step in with seconds remaining.
