Rightmove has named the five most-viewed homes on its website this year - and they're stunning.

From sandstone Georgian manor houses with Beauty and the Beast staircases - as well as home cinemas, indoor pools and tennis courts - to ultra-modern London properties with glass lifts, you can see why they draw envious eyes.

And in a year where millions have been confined to the same four walls for weeks - or even months - at a time, dreaming of something better is entirely understanfable.

But in a break from last year, there were no castles or flats on the list, while historic properties gave way for more modern homes.

Rightmove’s Tim Bannister said: “We’ve seen many new trends unfold this year as home-movers have reassessed their housing needs and reprioritised what’s important to them.

"However, one thing that’s remained constant is the nation’s curiosity to look inside the most amazing homes currently on the market and there’s no mistaking that these five properties are the crème de la crème this year.

"Although what’s really interesting about this year’s annual round-up is that there aren’t any penthouse apartments in the list, which reflects a national trend of people wanting more space – both when they’re browsing dream homes as well as when they’re searching Rightmove for something a little more affordable.”

This is what people have been looking at this year:

1. Sydenhurst Mansion, Mill Lane, Chiddingfold, Godalming

Classic lines, but a modern home

The outside of this stunning Surrey manor house might be enough to put even Mr Darcy's Pemberley to shame, but there's nothing old fashioned about what's inside.

Set in 30 acres of stunning parkland, there's everything from an indoor pool to a cinema room and even a two-lane bowling alley included.

Outside there's another pool, a tennis court and beautifully laid out grounds including fountains, statues, dedicated dining areas lakes and lawns.

What mansion is complete without a wine cellar?

Inside, you get a stunning entryway straight out of a fairy tale, family dining and relaxing spaces as well as formal dining and drawing rooms - and a wine cellar, of course.

Then there's the more fun spaces, with pool tables, air hockey, a gym, an indoor pool, a home cinema and more.

That's before we get to nine en-suite bedrooms (all with dressing rooms attached too) and a "teenager's dormitory" with half-a-dozen beds and two bathrooms, which we assume is for housing party guests who don't feel like heading home that night.

If all that seems a lot to keep up, there's two cottages and garaging for staff - as well as an integrated staff flat.

All in all, a snip at £30 million.

2. Merton Lane, London, N6

The home comes complete with a glass lift

This impressive North London home couldn't be more different in style from the manor house above - but is comfortably its equal in opulence.

Thoroughly modern architecture means it's full or light and space - with a stunning triple height dining room with a feature window the size of a normal terraced house.

There's also a huge indoor pool, as well as plenty of chic balconies overlooking Hampstead Heath and a rather large private garden - including fountains and a tennis court.

The triple-height dining room

There are 10 bedrooms in all, spread over three floors all connected by a glass lift, as well as a snooker room, study, leisure suite and sauna.

The property comes with a separate staff lodge - fully equipped in its own rights with kitchen, bedrooms and living rooms - and there's a garage big enough to house four supercars.

The price, a cool £40million.

3. Aspen House, Chigwell, Essex

A perfect fusion of old and new

The third entry on Rightmove's most-viewed list combines modernity with traditional design - blending weathered oak and lime rendered walls with big windows and marble bathrooms.

The property is set in 52 acres of land, which includes its own Olympic-sized equestrian centre.

Inside the main home there's also a swimming pool - complete with a waterfall and jacuzzi - as well as a sauna, steam room, cinema and home gym.

The inside is thoroughly up to date

There are five bedrooms (all with walk in wardrobes), and six bathrooms, all to a bang up to date design.

But perhaps the most unique feature of the home is the garage.

Accessed via a car lift, and with a turntable, the underground "car port" is big enough to house a fleet of 10 supercars.

4. Woodlawn, East Road, St George's Hill, Weybridge, Surrey

A classic country home

A study in elegant design, this Surrey country house is nestled in almost four acres of perfectly manicured lawns.

The seven-bedroom mansion is the work of revered period architect Julian Bicknell  - but lacks for nothing in terms of modernity.

As well as sweeping staircases, you get indoor pools, gyms and saunas.

On top of a waterfall in the grounds, you find bang-up-to-date bathrooms and a cinema room.

There are two independent flats for staff, as well as a wine store, motor courtyard and parking area with room to put five cars away - and all within 25 miles of London.

The price? IT can be yours for just £22.49million.

5.  Elsworthy Road, Primrose Hill, London, NW3

This London home is just a stroll from Lords
The open plan breakfast room and family area

Sitting opposite Primrose Hill Park, and a short stroll from Lords Cricket Ground in London, this is the only home on the list without a private pool.

But residents of the eight-bedroom detached house need not fear, as well as a gym and a cinema room there's a a wine cellar, games room and private bar.

The master bedroom has an en suite bath and shower room, while there are also six other en-suite bedrooms.

While not set in acres of land, there is a proovate garden, patio area and access to communal gardens too.

And all it will set you back is £28,500,000.
