DEAR DEIDRE: WHEN I try to make contact with my son it just comes to nothing.
He is 27 – old enough to make his own decisions.
I think he still lives with his mother but if I phone her I get abuse, although we parted 15 years ago.
I have tried writing but I get no reply.
I wonder if she passes on my letters and messages.
Maybe she tells him I am a wicked person but I’d have thought that curiosity alone would make him want to meet his father.
I am getting on, 61 next birthday, and I would like to see him before it is too late.

DEIDRE SAYS: It sounds like his mother has hung on to feeling bitter and this is a way to get at you.
Be honest with yourself.
Is she justified in feeling angry?
If you know you fell short, saying sorry might soften her – and him.
If not, my e-leaflet Tracing Someone explains other ways you can try to contact him.
