I’m desperate for another child – but is it too soon?

DEAR DEIDRE: I REALLY long for another child but I’ve only been back at work three months since returning from maternity leave from my first baby.

I adore our little boy but I had to go back to work to help pay the bills. My mum looks after him for three days and he goes to a child minder, too.

I didn’t think you could get pregnant so quickly after a baby – he’s six months old now – but ever since my midwife mentioned my fertility, I’m obsessed with the thought of getting pregnant again.

My team and I are working safely from home but we are here to help you as always.

I had a traumatic birth before so this is a worry, as well as the thought of being judged by work colleagues.

DEIDRE SAYS: You haven’t said how your partner feels about it. Extending your family has to be a joint decision.

Having a baby so quickly after the first suits some people but for others, it is double the expense and the sleepless nights.

Nature has a clever way of helping us forget the trauma of childbirth, but do talk with your midwife about your fears.

As for the folk at work, it’s your body, your family and your life, so you do as you wish.
