Some I'm A Celebrity viewers queried the ITV show's Covid rules, after the exit of Richard Madeley this week.

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly interviewed Richard in their studio on the castle grounds on Friday, in an episode that had to be pre-recorded due to stormy weather in Wales.

But the chat left some fans confused over the restrictions in place, that have resulted in Richard being unable to return after he made a hospital dash on Wednesday.

Richard and the other celebrities on the line-up all had to quarantine for two weeks before entering the castle, so that they could all form a bubble together and not have to follow social distancing.

However, because Richard left this bubble and headed to hospital, and was around people outside of the castle bubble, it meant he would not be able to head back and rejoin his new friends.

This is because he would have to follow social distancing and avoid contact with his co-stars, due to the rules and restrictions which have allowed ITV to film the show.

With this just not being possible in camp and during trials, Richard was not able to re-enter the bubble out of precaution.

While he understood this, despite being gutted, some fans didn't understand why this was the case, when Richard was able to speak to Ant and Dec in the studio.

More than that, the fact Ant and Dec are allowed to enter the castle to speak to the stars ahead of each trial left many more puzzled.

Some fans asked whether, following the interview with Richard, the hosts would still be allowed to go in as normal, and it seems they will be because they are correctly following the guidelines in place.

Ant and Dec are not part of the celebrity campmate bubble, and when they do visit camp it's very brief and at a distance, so they do not come into contact with anyone else.

The hosts are part of their own bubble, allowing them to stand together when presenting the show and any challenges, while they always maintain the correct distance to the stars taking part.

They also kept this same distance with Richard during his exit interview, with them sat at the other end of their studio desk to him, so again they did not come into contact with each other.

This just would not be possible for Richard, given he would need to be close to his co-stars in the camp and also when doing any trials together.

One viewer explained this, writing on Twitter : "Because @AntAndDec & @RichardM56 maintained Social Distancing guidelines.

"If Richard went back into camp he'd have to live with the celebrities. Even although it's a Castle, the camp are effectively a household in a bubble of their own."

I'm A Celebrity airs every night at 9pm on ITV.
