The family of murdered Paisley dad Craig McClelland have been left devastated after the Crown Office rejected their call for a Fatal Accident Inquiry into his death.

Innocent Craig, 31, was stabbed to death by tagged knife fiend James Wright in July 2017.

It emerged his killer had been on the run from police for five months after tampering with an electronic tag designed to monitor his movements.

Craig’s family had already been refused a public inquiry into his case and have now been dealt a further blow with news a Fatal Accident Inquiry has also been rejected.

Craig’s father Michael, pictured, who has terminal brain cancer, said: “We are very, very disappointed at the news.

“All we have ever wanted is an independent look at the circumstances that led to Craig’s death.

“It feels like this is just being swept under the carpet.

“But, I promise, I will never stop campaigning for the truth.”
