Hollyoaks fans are used to experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions when it comes to the show.
And the latest came out of the blue as the Channel 4 soap aired the murder of Sid Sumner.
The beloved character, played by Billy Price, was the victim of drug boss Victor in the latest twist in the County Lines storyline.
Following the death of his cousin Jordan, Sid set out to destroy Victor "from the inside" and was trying to get enough evidence to get him out of their lives for good.
But after being tipped off by Ollie Morgan, Victor caught up with Sid and dealt a fatal blow leaving the youngster to die.
And fans couldn't cope.
"There aren't words for how devastated I am right now ngl. Oh, Sid #Hollyoaks," one fan tweeted.
Another said: "I'm heartbroken and crying R.I.P Sid Sumner #Hollyoaks."
"Sid dying has really gutted me #Hollyoaks," a third added.
A four commented: "Omg Sid...I’m sorry I can’t watch Hollyoaks anymore."
However, some refuse to believe Sid is dead and think it was staged in order to help catch Victor.
And a new video from the team at Hollyoaks has left fans confused.
They posted on social media: "We know how much you're going to miss Sid, so we made this for you!" before teasing: "Be sure to watch it all the way to the end... You're welcome!"
Billy, who plays Sid, is seen at the start of the video and says: "It's not over," before a series of his best scenes play out.
He then appears at the end, peering from behind a sofa.
But what does this mean?
"Wait a damn minute, he had a sneaky smiled at the end... IS HE ALIVE," one fan asked.
Another said: "What?! 'It's not over!' Please say Sid's alive i beggg #Hollyoaks."
"You're messing with me #hollyoaks," a third added.
