Harvey Weinstein has voiced his fears of dying behind bars, his lawyer has said.

The disgraced Hollywood producer, 68, has been confined to a wheelchair after he was rushed to hospital with chest pains on his way to jail, the NY Times reported.

Weinstein's attorney Donna Rotunno shared her client was terrified of dying in jail as he faces up to 25 years behind bars for his crimes.

It was later revealed Weinstein was moved to a secure ward in Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City when he suffered with high blood pressure .

The Hollywood producer was convicted of sexual assault in the first degree and third-degree rape at his trial in New York City.

His lawyer stated it was unlikely the movie maker would survive a long stint in jail with his health problems.

She told DailyMail.com : "He's 68 years old. Obviously he accepts it, look where he is right now.

"It's a real - with his health - who knows how many years he could survive in there. Probably not that many."

Weinstein was convicted of sexually assaulting former production assistant Mimi Haleyi in 2006 and raping aspiring actress Jessica Mann in 2013.

He was cleared of the two most serious charges of predatory sexual assault.

He had pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting Haleyi and raping Mann.

"He is in a wheelchair for now. They won't let you take the walker because it could be a weapon."

Jurors had asked to review parts of Haleyi's testimony, as well as emails between her and Weinstein and emails from Weinstein that had mentioned her.

Former Project Runway production assistant Haleyi had testified that Weinstein "lunged" at her in his New York home in 2006, backing her into a bedroom and forcing oral sex on her.

Since 2017, more than 80 women have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct.

Weinstein has consistently denied the allegations and said any sexual encounters were consensual.
