The father of tragic cinematographer Halyna Hutchins has refused to blame Alec Baldwin for the film crew member’s death.
Devastated father Anatoly Androsovych has been left heartbroken after his 43-year-old daughter was killed in an on-set accident when 63-year-old Alec fired a prop gun at her.
The bullet reportedly passed through her body, and Halyna sadly died after being flown to University of New Mexico Hospital following the incident at a 2,000 acre ranch in New Mexico on Thursday.
While a police investigation into the accident is ongoing, Halyna’s grieving father has said he holds no ill will against Hollywood star Alec and instead believes the armourer team working on the film, called Rust, are the ones at fault.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, he said: “We still can’t believe Halyna is dead and her mother is going out of her mind with grief.
"But I don’t hold Alec Baldwin responsible — it is the responsibility of the props people who handle the guns.”
Anatoly also explained how Haliyna’s husband, Matthew, and nine-year-old son, Andres, have been devastated by the tragedy.
He said: “The little boy has been very badly affected — he is lost without his mother. Matt will decide if legal action is going to be taken.”

Reports, a police warrant and the call sheet used to outline who was working on set of the film on the day of the accident have uncovered details of how the disaster happened.
On Friday, The Wall Street Journal identified the film’s armourer as Hanna Gutierrez Reed – who is the daughter of esteemed armorer and firearms consultant Thell Reed, who reportedly trained her “from a young age”.
Subsequent reports have suggested the 24-year-old "wasn't ready" for the job before she began working on set of the western film.
While other reports have suggested crew walked out on the production the day before the accident over concerns about work conditions and safety.
And they go on to report that Alec’s “blood-stained costume from the movie has been taken as evidence, as well as the gun that went off, plus other prop guns and ammo being used on set.”
The police investigation so far has also reported that Halyna had been “shot in the chest” – where previous reports have stated she was shot in the stomach.
While the bullet that passed through her went on to strike 48-year-old director Joel Souza who also required emergency hospital treatment for his injury.
The New York Post reports the unnamed prop master who oversaw the gun used in the fatal shooting had been "just brought in" to replace unionised staff who had walked out.
The LA Times claims crew had organised a walkout due to concerns over having accommodation for their filming an hour away from location – with some crew allegedly too tired to drive the hour at the end of the day.
Alec released a statement on Friday as Hollywood reeled from the news of the devastating accident.
He wrote: “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours.
"I'm fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna."Read More Read More
