One of Gogglebox's newest families have hit back after being reportedly dropped been dropped from the hit Channel 4 show after just one series.

The Baggs, from Essex, only made a limited number of appearances on our screens but it seems that mum Lisa, dad Terry and their sons George and Joe have left the hit show already.

A Gogglebox insider said: "The Baggs family are out of the show and won’t be appearing anymore.

"They only lasted one series. It was short and sweet."

The move comes after the family were met with an online backlash, being slated by some viewers during the 16th season of the show.

Another said: "How annoying are The Baggs family on gogglebox."

Only a handful of clips of the family were aired by producers and now they have been quietly dropped from the line-up of families for the current run.

But they haven’t ruled out bringing them back.

The insider added: "The Baggs are on good terms with producers so there will always be a possibility that they’ll return at some point."

Channel 4 failed to respond to requests for comment last night, according to the Daily Star.

However, Joe Baggs took to social media to address the rumours on Thursday.

"Frustrating to address this but we weren't dropped," he said on his Instagram story.

"Due to the lockdown there aren't enough cameras to go round to the entire cast and therefore we decided as a family to take a series off.

"Of course there was criticism about us, the producers said this happens to all new families so it's not uncommon and not a reason people get cut from the show.

"I guess this is just a bored journalist trying to pay his rent but I thought I would get the facts straight."

The news comes after last week it was announced another castmate would be leaving the show.

Tom Malone Jr said he was leaving the show after six years to explore new opportunities.

Writing on his social media he said: "So after six years it's finally time to put down the remote and say goodbye to Gogglebox.

"I've loved every minute and I'm eternally grateful to Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for allowing me to be a part of the show. But new opportunities are knocking on the door and it's time to explore them.

"I look forward to enjoying the show as a viewer and not having to worry about having said something stupid!"

He reassured fans that the Malone family would still be present adding: "P.S. Don't worry my parents and my brother will still be on the show to keep you guys entertained every Friday.”

Gogglebox continues Friday night at 9pm on Channel 4.
