Comedian Rob Brydon has dropped a bit hint that there could be another special episode of Gavin & Stacey.
Speaking during his podcast, the 55-year-old agreed with fans that the hit comedy was left "hanging" at the end of the Christmas special in 2019 - the most watched television comedy for 17 years.
The Christmas Day episode finished on a cliffhanger with Ruth's character Nessa asking Smithy, played by James, to marry her.
Speaking during his Brydon & podcast Rob, who plays Bryn West in the series, admitted: "Well, I think they might do one more special.
"Because they left it hanging, didn’t they, with the proposal?
"So it would seem strange if they didn’t.
"But they should crack on if they are going to do it."
She said: "They created this masterpiece sort of one-off Christmas special.
"Now everyone’s asking for more, aren’t they?"
She continued: "What a cast and everyone was so lovely; the crew, everyone, was brilliant on that job."
The Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps actress said James Corden and Ruth Jones' creation was "genius", adding: "They wrote it so well and so to just be a small part of it was an honour."
At the end last year, James said that the cast is in constant contact and they remain very close but writing a full-on Christmas special could be too much pressure for him and co-creator Ruth Jones.
Co-writer Jones has also been equally as scant about giving a definite answer about the return of the mega hit.
Speaking at Cheltenham Literature Festival in October last year to promote her new novel, Us Three, Ruth said: “Your guess is as good as mine, that's the truth.
"All I can say is there are no plans at the moment, but then I say that and people go 'Yeah, but you used to say that before and then you did suddenly announce.' I am telling you the truth - there are no plans at the moment to write any more. But, as I said to somebody the other day, the door is closed but it's not locked."
