A self-confessed Friends "super fan" has questioned how a TK Maxx jumper emblazoned with the names of the show's characters ever made it through the fashion chain's quality control checks.

Mum-of-five Laura Lightbody was browsing the store's website looking for a birthday present for her daughter Nell, when she came across the 'weird' FRIENDS Pink Signature Names Sweatshirt for children, costing £12.99.

It only took a quick glance for the 38-year-old to spot the glaring error, counting only the five names of Monica, Joey, Chandler, Phoebe and Rachel.

David Schwimmer's loveable character of Ross Geller clearly hadn't quite done enough to make the cut, despite being a main stay in all 236 episodes of the long-running series.

Laura, from Telford, Shropshire, says she was confused over how anyone could forget Ross, who is one half of one of the world's most famous sitcom couples.

The jumper is currently still on sale on the site, and although Laura didn't buy one, she thinks the clothing "could be collectible and worth a fortune" in the future.

Laura said: "My daughter [Nell] likes Friends. I was a Friends super fan. Myself and my family watched it every week and had the boxsets.

"You just know there's three pairs [of characters]. Three boys, three girls.

"I guess younger people have maybe seen a few episodes and know it's big, but certainly don't know it like the people who grew up with it in the nineties.

"It must be people who know Friends the second time round who have okayed it. I think it's low price and in clearance because it's a mistake."

Laura added: "It's attracted quite a reaction. A lot of people would buy that jumper just because it's missing one of the characters' names and it would appeal to them.

"Most people were saying they'd happily get rid of Ross. If it was Rachel or Joey, they wouldn't have been as happy.

"My favourite was Phoebe because she was a bit weird."

TK Maxx have been approached for comment.
