A five-vehicle crash is causing delays into Bridlington.

Drivers reported seeing the collision just after 12noon on the A165 going into Bridlington.

Families have flocked to the seaside town on Sunday afternoon prior to lockdown restrictions being eased, with pictures emerging showing many enjoying time on the beach.

A man who passed the crash said it happened close to Fraisthorpe, not far from the turnoff to Bridlington beach.

He said: "Traffic heading into Bridlington is now building up.

"It has just happened so looks like the police are being called. People are stood on the grass verge.

"It's happened just a two minute drive from Bridlington. Two of the cars look really damaged."

A reporter is on their way to the scene and Humberside Police have been approached for comment.

'Traffic is rammed at a bottleneck'

He said: “The crash is at the Fraisthorpe turning. I can see four cars and it looks like they have shunted each other but traffic is now rammed at a bottleneck.”

Traffic is backing up

A driver who passed the scene said traffic is now backing up.

He said: “It just happened but when the police arrive I assume they will close the road as the cars are blocking the lane heading into Bridlington. It’s just before the turn-off to the beach. “
