CONCERNS are growing at Oakworth about proposals in Bradford Council's draft Local Plan.
Opposition has been voiced to the earmarking of a green belt site in Pasture Avenue for 34 homes.
Ward town councillors Luke Maunsell and Mark Curtis have met residents, whose anxieties include traffic congestion, damage to protected land and safety risks to children playing near the proposed entrance to the homes.
Cllr Curtis said: “Residents have been extremely proactive and really engaged in the consultation, which is inspiring to see.
“There are some profoundly serious concerns here and at another site in Maple Avenue and it is clear there is strong, committed opposition. As always, we will stand-up for the needs of residents.”
Cllr Maunsell said: “Local people are taking the lead with the opposition and I back them fully. Oakworth has had so much new housing over the last few years.
“Demands for new homes have to be balanced with local needs and the pressure on resources and the infrastructure of the village. I would encourage everyone to get involved in this consultation.”
