Erling Haaland: Borussia Dortmund striker sets new goalscoring record as hot start to life in black and yellow continues

Erling Haaland continues to dispatch anything that drops in his vicinity for Borussia Dortmund with yet more records tumbling after striking in his fourth successive appearance.

After signing from RB Salzburg for £18m last month, Haaland has quickly started to repay their investment, scoring after just three minutes on his debut before completing a memorable hat-trick to seal a famous 5-3 win against Augsburg.

A double off the bench against Koln followed before a second hat-trick on his full debut against Union Berlin.

Despite returning to the bench for the DFB-Pokal tie against Werder Bremen, Haaland needed just 21 minutes to bring Lucien Favre’s side back into the game after coming on at half-time, though they would eventually lose 3-2.

So after eight goals in just four appearances to start his career at his new club, Haaland became the first player to do so at any Bundesliga club.

An even more impressive achievement when you consider Haaland has only started once in that spell, while also waiting to complete his first 90 minutes.

So it’s a goal every 22 minutes so far for the 19-year-old, who will also be eagerly anticipating his Champions League return for his new club against Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16.

With eight goals already in Europe for Salzburg, meaning a sluggish 47 minutes per goal, Haaland is just two behind Robert Lewandowski (10) in the race to be crowned as the Champions League top scorer.

The Bayern star has played 63 minutes more than the Norwegian though and taken 11 more shots on goal.

Next up for Haaland is Bayer Leverkusen in a top of the table clash at the BayArena.

The hosts are five points behind Dortmund, who are three points behind leaders Bayern in one of the most compelling title races in the Bundesliga for years and Haaland may yet prove to be the difference.
