A major Cumbria road has been closed due to a serious crash.
Emergency services including police and paramedics are at the scene of the A684 where two vehicles have collided.
Police have put a closure in place as a result of the crash which has occurred approximately one mile from junction 37 of the M6 towards Sedburgh.
Officers say the road will be closed for sometime and the public is asked to avoid the area.
A spokesperson for Cumbria Roads Police said: "Currently dealing with a serious 2 vehicle Collision on the A684, approximately one mile from junction 37 of the M6 towards Sedburgh. Road will be closed for sometime. Please avoid the area."
Traffic is being affected in the area, specifically between the M6 and Sedbergh.
Travel wesbite INRIX said: "A684 in both directions closed due to accident, two vehicles involved between M6 J37 (Kendal, South Lakeland) and Shacklabank Lane (Four Lane Ends, Sedbergh). Traffic is coping well. Affecting traffic between the M6 and Sedbergh."
North West Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
