EastEnders' Shirley Carter has been a soap legend ever since her arrival on the Square in 2006.
Her no-nonsense attitude and hilarious one-liners are just some of the things that have earned her the status of soap royalty.
But while it seems as though she's been in Walford forever, viewers might be surprised to know the actress who plays her had been on the BBC soap already, over a decade earlier.
While she didn't play Shirley back then, actress Linda Henry still had a link to the Wicks' of sorts as she befriended Pat Butcher.
Back in 1991, she played a prostitute named Lorraine Stevens, also known as Lorraine Salter.
She was the mother of character Mandy Salter, a troubled teenager who arrived in Walford the following year.
Mandy fell pregnant after a fling with Ricky Butcher, and later returned in 2011 as a love interest of Ian Beale.
Back to Lorraine, and the character grew close to Pat who was having troubles with her marriage to Frank Butcher.
She ended up leaving the soap in 1992 after falling out with Pat, while Mandy stayed on the Square until 1994.
Fast-forward to 2006, and Linda took on the new role of Shirley Carter, the ex of Kevin Wicks - Pat's nephew.
She never did reprise the role of Lorraine, and obviously couldn't given she was now Shirley.
In 2012, while Linda was still playing Shirley, her character Linda was killed off off-screen as confirmed by Mandy.
So her original character died while the actress was still on the soap in a different role.
This wouldn't be the first time a cast member has played two soap roles, with Karen Taylor actress Lorraine Stanley also having played two different characters in Walford.
She played the mother of Jay Brown's underage girlfriend Star a year earlier.
