EastEnders viewers were shocked to realise that Thursday night was the final exit for Habiba Ahmed, played by Rukku Nahar.

Habiba left Albert Square in a taxi after a blazing row with her sister Iqra.

After two years on the soap, she told her sister she could not stay any more because of how much she hated her girlfriend, Ash.

She told Iqra it was either her or Ash - and Iqra chose her girlfriend.

Habiba's final scene aired as she told her sister she couldn't bear seeing her with her girlfriend

Iqra asked: "Are you serious, you're just leaving?" as Habiba approached her taxi.

"I can't do this any more, I can't watch you with Ash, day in, day out, she is no good," Habiba replied.

"Habs, I love her," said Iqra.

"You think you love her, but one day you are going to realise that I am right, she is going to hurt you really bad, and i don't want to be around to see that.

Iqra refused to break up with Ash

It's your choice, make it," Habiba told her sister, who said she could not choose but begged her to stay anyway.

"I need you," pleaded Iqra.

Habiba replied: "But Jags needs me more," and got into the taxi which drove away.

Not only that, but Habiba fell on troubled times recently after her boyfriend Jags Panesar was jailed for a crime he did not commit.

He took the rap for his brother Vinny after his mother Suki decided he should take the blame for the attack on Martin Fowler.

Habiba was disgusted by the way her family, and Ash, treated Jags despite his innocence.

And the soap confirmed that her storyline had come to an end, leaving many viewers cold as they had not even realised she was leaving for good.

Another added: "Habiba had so much potential on #EastEnders wth they wasted her character and storylines".

"So... was that an exit for Rukku? I’m sure she’s devastated after all that high quality Habiba content #EastEnders," remarked a third.

"As if Habiba just left halfway through the episode. Fuming #EastEnders," penned a fourth.

A fifth ranted: "Max, Kush and Tina haven't had a storyline worthy of them in years, and they never bothered to give Habiba one. #EastEnders,".
