Don Jr mocks Biden for fracturing his foot playing with his dog as he says Kamala is ‘rubbing her hands together’

DONALD Trump Jr has mocked Joe Biden for fracturing his foot as he suggested Kamala Harris is "rubbing her hands together" to take over the presidency.

Biden fractured his foot over the weekend while playing with his rescue dog, Major.

The 78-year-old visited a specialist in Delaware on Sunday afternoon, and will be forced to wear a protective boot while the injury heals.

Following reports of the injury, Don Jr shared a meme on his Instagram account showing a mischievous-looking man rubbing his hands together as he emerges from behind a tree.

"Kamala Harris when she heard Biden slipped and fractured his ankle," the meme says, which appears to suggest Harris would seize the opportunity to take over in Biden's absence.

Don Jr captioned the post: "Most accurate meme of 2020."

Harris, 55, was a presidential candidate last year, the former district attorney of San Francisco and is a current Senator for California.

She has been married to her husband Douglas Emhoff, a lawyer, for the past six years and has two step-children, Ella and Cole.

Trump's campaign has repeatedly tried to paint Biden and Harris as a "Trojan horse" for the "radical agenda".

While on the campaign trail in September, Trump claimed Harris "further left than crazy Bernie".

If Biden were to resign during his term, then Harris would automatically ascend to Commander-in-Chief.

Some 59 per cent of likely US voters polled in August by Rasmussen Reports said they believed Biden's running mate would become President.

It didn't ask why they believed this would happen but in a separate poll from Rasmussen Reports, 38 per cent of likely US voters thought Biden had dementia.

Journalists assigned to Biden first revealed the president-elect's injury on Sunday.

"On Saturday November 28, president-elect Biden slipped while playing with his dog Major, and twisted his ankle," a pool report said.

"Out of an abundance of caution, he will be examined this afternoon by an orthopedist."

'GET WELL SOON!'

After an initial examination, Biden was sent to an orthopedist for a CT scan, which revealed the fracture.

Soon after, Donald Trump retweeted an NBC video of Biden leaving the clinic, writing "Get well soon!"

In a statement to MSNBC, Dr Kevin O'Connor said: "Follow-up CT scan confirmed hairline (small) fractures of President-elect Biden’s lateral and intermediate cuneiform bones, which are in the mid-foot.

"It is anticipated that he will likely require a walking boot for several weeks."

Biden enlisted the help of America's furry friends during his campaign, uploading a November 1 video of dogs for Biden/Harris on Instagram.

"These dogs are here for some paw-sitive encouragement as we get closer to election day," the caption read. "Let's bring dogs back to the White House."

According to the Delaware Humane society, the former vice president and his wife Dr Jill got to know Major while fostering him.

The animal-loving couple – who also own a German shepherd called Champ, 12 – adopted Major in 2018, a few months before Biden announced his presidential run.

The adorable pooch will become the first shelter dog to live at the White House when the Bidens move in on January 20.

RETURN OF THE POOCH

The arrival of the Biden pets - Major, Champ, and a cat - will also mark the next chapter in a long history of pets residing at the White House after a four-year hiatus during the Trump administration.

Speaking at a rally in El Paso, Texas, last year, Trump said he didn't "have any time" for a pet and that he thought owning one "feels a little phony".

"Pets have always played an important role in the White House throughout the decades," said Jennifer Pickens, an author who studies White House traditions.

"It not only provides companionship to the president and their family, but I believe it also humanizes and softens their political image."

When he declared victory in the 2008 presidential race, Barack Obama told his daughters: "You have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House."

Several months later, Bo joined the family, a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy.

A few years later, fellow Portuguese water dog Sunny arrived to provide companionship.

President Harry Truman famously said: "If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog."

Many presidents have taken him up on that advice. The first President Bush once said: "There is nothing like the unconditional love of a dog to help you get through the rough spots."

Speaking about his love of animals, Biden told ABC News in 2008: "I've had German shepherds since I was a kid and I've actually trained them and shown them in the past."

Biden has yet to publicly comment or confirm his injury.

FAILED LAWSUITS

The transition to a Biden administration has proceeded despite Republican Trump's false claims that he lost the election as a result of voter fraud.

On Monday, Biden received his first full classified intelligence briefing since winning the November 3 election, after Trump's refusal to concede delayed the formal transition process for weeks.

Arizona and Wisconsin, two battleground states where Trump has pursued fruitless efforts to overturn the results, each certified Biden's victory on Monday.

Trump has pursued a series of legal challenges in numerous states, although none has resulted in any meaningful gains for the president so far.

Most of the lawsuits have been rejected by judges, who have expressed skepticism about the claim that the election results are illegitimate.

The Electoral College, which selects the presidential winner based on state-by-state results, is scheduled to meet on December 14.

Biden, the Democratic former vice president, will take office on January. 20.
