Police have closed two lanes on the M60 following a crash near Heaton Park.
The collision happened on the clockwise carriageway between junctions 19 and 20 at around 5pm.
It is understood a lorry and a van were involved.
GMP are yet to release details of any injuries.
Two lanes have been closed, as well as the junction 19 slip road.
Travel time is around 45 minutes, with tailbacks currently to junction 16 for Pendlebury.
Traffic on the M62 and M66 has also been impacted by the smash.
Highways England said in an update: "Long delays on the M60 in Greater Manchester this evening.
"This is following a traffic collision closing 2 lanes within J19.
"At least 45 minutes travel time if approaching from the M60 and M66.
"Our Highways England Traffic Officers are on scene, along with Service Providers and vehicle recovery units.
"If travelling towards this area from further afield, you may wish to change your strategic route, allow extra travel time and follow guidance from our on-road Variable Message Signs and media."

There are also issues on the anti-clockwise carriageway between junction 21 for Hollinwood and junction 20 for Higher Blackley.
Two lanes have been shut due to a broken down vehicle. Travel time is around 25 minutes.
