Danny Simpson thinks Leicester can repeat stunning 2016 title triumph if they beat Man City away

DANNY SIMPSON says Leicester will believe they can win the title if they win at Manchester City today — just like he did in 2016.

The ex-Foxes left-back was part of the historic 5,000-1 Premier League winning side who stunned the Etihad by winning 3-1.

The 32-year-old vividly recalls being sat in the dressing room with his team-mates after the iconic win — and thinking for the first time the title dream was on.

And Simpson, who now plays for Huddersfield, believes Brendan Rodgers’ young Foxes side are capable of emulating his Leicester legends.

Simpson added: “It was one of the highlights of my career.

“That win was one of the standout performances of the season.

"It made people think, ‘They are a good team, maybe they can do it?’.

“I remember being in the dressing room — and that’s when we as players also started to believe ourselves we really could do it.

“It wasn’t just that we won comfortably, we played really well.

“At the time it sent a message out — and we kicked on from there.

“This Leicester team are genuine title contenders, especially if they go there and win.

"The football that Brendan has got them playing is top class.”
