Corey Brent's dad Stefan is a familiar face to many soap fans as he makes his presence felt on the Coronation Street cobbles.

Ruthless Stefan Brent made his first appearance on the cobbles last month and it marked a return to soapland for the actor who plays him.

Fans recognised him and tried to place his face.

"I'm sure that guy was in Emmerdale years ago," tweeted one.

Indeed actor Paul Opacic is no stranger to appearing in soap after playing Steve Marchant in Corrie's rural sister soap Emmerdale from 1996 until 1999.

Steve was Kim Tate's second husband and was sent to prison after being framed by his wife for crimes she committed.

Paul also starred in Hollyoaks as Carl Costello between 2010 and 2013 and was last seen in 2018 after making a guest appearance.

In Weatherfield Stefan made his debut in the ITV soap as he met with Dev Alahan when his daughter Asha moved in with her boyfriend Corey.

Dev was upset and angry, accusing Stefan of not caring what was happening in his home.

And he interfered further by taking over the lease of 12 Victoria Court and allowing the young couple to stay there.

It's clear where vile Corey gets his cocky attitude after his bullish dad stepped in to protect him after the brutal attack on Nina Lucas and Seb Franklin.

He ordered him to stay away from fellow gang member Kelly Neelan and to make a statement to police admonishing him of any blame.
