A convicted sex offender and both his parents have been charged with offences related to the sexual abuse of children

Donnie Wayne Jackson, 47, from Georgia, his mum Glenda Sue Howell, 61, and 58-year-old dad Jeffrey Wade Howell, who live in Tennessee, were arrested last week.

Jeffrey Howell is accused of one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child and one count of statutory rape by an authority figure.

His wife faces one count of failure to report known or suspected child abuse and their son has been charged with one count of sexual battery by an authority figure.

The couple are from Leoma, Tennessee, while Jackson lives in Cumming, Georgia.

Police received a complaint in June that Jackson had molested a child

Investigators in Georgia tipped off their counterparts in Tennessee which led to the arrest of the couple.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Glenda Howell was held in custody and later released when she posted a $10,000 bond.

Jackson and Jeffrey Howell, who were both arrested last month in Georgia, are still in custody.

According to prison records, Jeffrey Howell is in the Forsyth County jail in Georgia on charges of child molestation, aggravated child molestation and sexual battery of a child under 16.

Jackson has been charged with three counts of child molestation, two counts of aggravated sexual battery, and one count of sexual battery in Dawson County, Georgia and one count of child molestation in Forsyth County, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.

The GBI said an investigation was launched after police received a complaint in June that Jackson had molested a child.

Detectives learned that the alleged molestation had taken place in both Forsyth and Dawson.

The GBI said that Jackson was a registered sex offender who was convicted on eight counts of felony sexual battery in Tennessee in 2001, WJCL reports.
