A motorist who failed to stop after being involved in a road traffic collision was involved in further crashes during a subsequent police chase.

The driver made off from the scene of the initial crash in Blackpool, leading to a police chase during the early hours of this morning (June 5).

However, the vehicle then crashed into a police dog van and before smashing into a tree and garden wall.

Two people were inside the vehicle and were arrested by police at the scene.

No injuries resulted, confirms Lancashire Constabulary.

The car was later recovered.

A spokesperson for Lancs Road Police said: “This car in Blackpool involved in a fail to stop RTC before making off from police having further collided with a police dog van before crashing into a tree and garden wall. Two occupants arrested, car recovered. Thankfully no injuries. #T2IR #T2TacOps.”

Pictures from the scene show damage to the front of the car as well as a garden wall as the vehicle is surrounded by police cars and vans.
