Police in the Costa del Sol have launched a manhunt for a murderer after a Brit was murdered on Thursday afternoon.

The 39-year-old was shot several times in the chest near the resort of Fuengirola in Riviera del Sol, in an area popular with Brits.

He is believed to have been shot while he sat in his car, and his body was discovered in his vehicle by police.

The killing took place on a quiet residential street just north of the AP7 motorway which runs along the Spanish coast.

Cops were called to the scene at around 3.15pm local time (2.15pm UK time) this afternoon.

A desperate attempt was made to save his life with CPR, but he died at the scene.

Reports claim the gunman fled in a high-end vehicle which was seen speeding away from the site of the killing.

No arrests have been made so far after what police suspect is a drug gang-related killing.

The slaughter is the latest violent death reported in the Brit tourist hotspot in recent months.
