A boy was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in a Poulton-le-Fylde street.

Emergency services were called to Saville Avenue earlier this afternoon (July 30).

Pictures sent to LancsLive showed a police van blocking the street at the junction with Fleetwood Road and an ambulance and a second police vehicle at the scene.

Neighbours reported that a 'young lad' had been knocked down by a car while riding his bike.

He has since been taken to hospital for treatment.

Lancashire Constabulary confirmed they were called to reports of a collision and the road was closed at the junction with Fleetwood Road while the emergency services attended the scene.

A police spokesperson said the boy is believed to have sustained a 'minor injury'.

No arrests have been reported.
