Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn never used to clean up his dog’s poo until he was confronted by neighbour

BOXING promoter Eddie Hearn never used to clean up his dog’s poo until he was confronted by a neighbour.

The tycoon 41, said he believed it was acceptable to leave the mess behind until his pooch did his business on a recent walk on a common.

Eddie said: “I started to walk off and a geezer’s come out his house and gone, ‘Oi, mate. Do you want a bag?’

“I was like, ‘What’s that for? What? What?’ I had to pick my first one up.”

Dad-of-two Eddie, son of sports promoter Barry, 72, told a boxing podcast: “Until lockdown, I didn’t really know how much of a done thing that was.

“I just thought, ‘Look, he’s in a bush. He’s a dog, ain’t he?’”

He said: “I didn’t realise, for people who walk dogs, it’s actually like it’s religious.

“I have to be honest — I never pick his turds up."

Eddie, of Basildon, Essex, whose local council encourages residents to report dog fouling, said he now always picks up his mutt’s doings.

A team of five specialised officers were hired by the council to help reduce dog mess.

If caught, offenders can be issued with a fine of £100 and if it goes to court they could be charged up to £1,000.
