Ben Shephard let rip at a Tipping Point contestant on Monday’s show over their frustrating answer to a question.
The game show, which is hosted by the Good Morning Britain presenter, saw contestant Owen bungle a question after talking himself out of the right answer.
Ben asked Owen “What is the name of the main peak and centrepiece of Holyrood Park in Edinburgh?”
He gave him the choice of three answers: Arthur’s Seat, Arthur’s Table to Arthur’s Plate.
Ben then asked Owen: “Are you a big fan of the [Edinburgh] Fringe?"
“Yeah, I go up every year, and I’ve climbed Arthur’s Seat which I know if a big hill,” Owen replied nervously.
Ben encouraged the contestant, inching him towards the right answer saying: “A peak? A centrepiece? Would you describe it as that?”
“I’m wondering if it’s table, but that’s just a guess,” Owen thought out loud, before confirming his answer.
Just seconds after giving his answer, Owen backtracked and said: “Oh no I think I’m wrong now,” as he closed his eyes and braced himself for his fate.
Ben reiterated his thought process, clapping his hands on each syllable: “You walked up Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh, in the park,” as Owen added, “And I’ve been to a chip van called Arthur’s Eat.”
“So you’ve been to Arthur’s Eat and walked up Arthur’s Seat. You’ve ignored what you’ve done and you’ve gone with Arthur’s Table,” Ben ribbed the contestant as he revealed Table was in fact the wrong answer.
Owen kicked himself: “I knew as soon as I did that,” as the Tipping Point counter pusher turned red to mark his incorrect answer.
“If I was watching at home I’d be so angry with me.”
Ben exclaimed: “I’m angry with you!”
“Is the answer Arthur’s Seat?” Owen asked, as Ben cut him off, “Yes of course it is! For heaven’s sake!”
Tipping Point viewers sided with Ben, and were left in disbelief at the answer, with many taking to Twitter to voice their exacerbation.
One wrote: “‘I’ve walked up Arthur's seat’
“This guy is telling himself the right answer and decides to say something else.”
Another said: “Well I’ve been to Edinburgh...and I’ve walked up Arthur’s Seat...and I know it’s a hill...and I’ve eaten at a chippy called Arthur’s Eat...
“…so my answer is Arthur’s Table”
“So he’s walked up Arthur seat but goes for Arthur table,” a third wrote alongside a face palm emoji.
“He’s been there, climbed up it, KNOWS THE NAME OF IT, and still gets it wrong. Unreal,” another added, while a fifth said: “Arthur’s Table? Muppet...even Ben is exasperated.”
