A barber shop was forced to close after a dad brought his son in for a haircut while he was supposed to be self-isolating.

The child had recently been one of the hundreds of students in Merseyside sent home following positive coronavirus cases at their school.

But rather than acting responsibly and staying at home the way they were supposed to, the man took his son into Kirkby town centre.

The owner of The Market Barber Shop, on St Chad's Drive, took to Facebook to explain why the shop was closed and to let people know how the parent's decision had affected the business.

Leann said that herself and another staff member could not work until they received a negative test result, and the store had to close for a deep clean.

She said: "Unfortunately due to a parent bringing a child in who was supposed to be isolating from school, but thought he would bring him for a haircut while he was off, has now led to two members of staff being tested and out of work until we get a negative result back.
