The nominees for the EE Rising Star award for the British Academy Film Awards have been revealed.
Those nominated for the award were announced by 2014 nominee 1917 star George MacKay at a BAFTA event at the Savoy Hotel in London on Wednesday (March 3).
The nominees are Bukki Bakray, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Morfydd Clark, Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù, and Conrad Khan.
This year all nominees are noted to be British actors.
Bukki Bakray won plaudits for her lead performance in Sarah Gavron’s Rocks, which is now available on Netflix.
Meanwhile, Kingsley Ben-Adir has received acclaim for his turn as Civil Rights icon Malcolm X in Regina King’s One Night in Miami, which is now available on Amazon Prime Video.
He has also had film roles including Vera, Peaky Blinders, Deep State, High Fidelity, and played President Barack Obama in The Comey Rule.
Elsewhere, Morfydd Clark is best known for her lead role in Rose Glass’ horror film Saint Maud, but has also appeared in the films The Personal History of David Copperfield and Eternal Beauty.
She also starred in BBC fantasy series His Dark Materials and will play Galadriel in Amazon’s Lord of the Rings television series.
Ṣọpẹ Dìrísù found acclaim for his turn in director Remi Weekes' horror film His House on Netflix last year.
He made his film debut in 2016 with the films, Sand Castle, Criminal, and The Huntsman: Winter’s War.
He also had major roles in television series Gangs of London and The Halycon.
Finally, Conrad Khan played troubled teen Tyler in director Henry Blake's topical drama film County Lines.
He also appeared in the film The Huntsman: Winter’s War.
The award is now in its sixteenth year and is the only award at the British Academy Film Awards to be voted for by the public.
The nominees appeared alongside broadcaster Edith Bowman for a virtual Q and A following the announcement.

Public voting for the EE Rising Star Award is now open at ee.co.uk/BAFTA and the winner will be announced at the EE British Academy Film Awards on Sunday 11 April 2021.
