The ex-wife of a football star has hit back at claims she underwent surgery for a botched nose job and instead revealed she is suffering from a life-threatening autoimmune disease.
Alisa Arshavina, who wed Arsenal star Andrey Arshavin, 39, in 2016, was flooded with nose job claims after she was pictured covering her face in recent social media posts.
Social media users speculated the mother-of-three had underwent a botched nose job, but Alisa hit back at the rumours.
The 38-year-old revealed she is suffering from a "distressing medical condition" that has "already required two life-saving surgeries."
She told her followers she has a "serious disease of the autoimmune system" and "necrosis developed in a matter of months," leading to the "mutilation" of her "beautiful face."
Alisa said: "I'm not sick because of unsuccessful plastic surgery, I have a serious disease of the autoimmune system.
"Two surgeries have helped to save my life. As a result, my beautiful face was mutilated by the disease.
"It all started so suddenly, autoimmune necrosis developed in a matter of months. I got to the operating table on time, when there were from two hours to two days otherwise there would have been sepsis."
She added that she had underwent "two operations" on her head and one on the "sphenoid sinus," which forced doctors to "cut out everything they could."
Alisa said: "There were literally millimetres left before reaching the brain."
The Arsenal legend's ex said she is continuing to undergo treatment for the condition, with some Russian media reports claiming her condition is granulomatosis with polyangiitis, formerly known as Wegener granulomatosis, a rare multi-system auto-immune disease.
Alisa did not confirm her diagnosis to the press but did say she was suffering from a "systemic disease with necrosis."
She also claimed some medics have said she is suffering from a "rare fungus" and said many doctors "refused to help."
Andrey Arshavin and Alisa divorced in 2019 and the mum last month won a court battle for him to pay £3,350 a month in alimony.
