Times are tough in the wake of lockdown but one huge brand is expanding - in Manchester.

It is a shoppers go to for bargain products and unusual purchases but Aldi is also an increasingly popular place to work.

Now, the German supermarket giant is recruiting for more than 60 jobs at over 30 stores in Manchester.

The jobs are spread across every corner of the 10 boroughs from Standish in Wigan to Hazel Grove in Stockport, and there is a job for everyone.

Aldi is looking for 48 store assistants, two deputy store managers and 11 store management apprentices across it’s Greater Manchester branches.

For the store assistant roles, Aldi is looking for hardworking and enthusiastic candidates to carry out responsibilities such as accurate and efficient till operation, stock management and merchandising.

Full training will be provided for store assistants over a six-week period and roles are available from 15 to 30 hours a week, with salaries starting at £9.40 per hour, rising to £10.41 per hour, and a realistic prospect of progression.

Aldi's deputy store managers are expected to work closely with their store manager and assistant store manager and will have the responsibility of managing the store team in their absence.

Deputy store manager roles start from 25 hours per week, with a starting salary of £10.40 per hour rising to £11.41 per hour, plus £4.00 extra per hour when managing the store.

Store apprentices will receive a salary of £187 per week in year one, rising to £279 per week in year three, and can now enter the Programme via two routes.

The Career Starter is a new route introduced for March 2019, which no longer requires candidates to have completed previous qualifications. The aim of this new route is to allow apprentices to work towards a career, whilst developing skills in literacy and numeracy and completing a Level 2 Retailer Qualification.

Alternatively, the Management Development Programme requires a minimum grade 4 or equivalent in Maths and English, and offers candidates a pathway to becoming a deputy store manager. Apprentices who choose this programme will complete a Level 2 Retailer Qualification in the first year of training, and then progress onto achieving a Level 3 Retail Team Leader Qualification in years two and three.
