The incident took place at the Nags Head pub on Blackburn Road. Officers were called by North West Ambulance Service at around 12.20am this morning (October 24) to reports a man aged in his 20s had been found at the pub unconscious and with a serious head injury.

It is believed he had been punched to the face. He was taken to hospital where he is being treated for a broken jaw.
